Soil Remediation & REPLACEMENT

Lone Star Hazmat Response provides environmental remediation services for hazardous spills and leaks involving contamination of the surrounding soils and substrate. Soil remediation is a critical multi-stage process that requires precision and adherence to regulatory protocols while also requiring speed to prevent further contamination of the surrounding ecosystems. Lone Star Hazmat response provides soil removal and remediation services as well as further environmental testing to restore land to its previous state.

Strategic Soil Removal

Soil contamination affects the surrounding environment, with the ability to spread into groundwater systems and waterways, affecting plant growth and wildlife if improperly contained and remediated. Lone Star Hazmat Response undertakes a comprehensive approach to containing and remediating soil contamination, identifying the severity of contamination, potential risks, and developing a plan for mediation and future monitoring. Our soil removal and remediation process includes multiple steps, all aligned with the goal of returning your property to its pristine environmental state:

  • Testing & Planning Services
  • Excavation
  • Soil Cleaning & Backfill
  • Handling & Disposal

Containment & Testing

Due to external environmental factors, containment of hazardous spills into soil substrates can be difficult to achieve and often involves speedy and precise execution. Rain, runoff, and evaporation of chemicals can cause an area of contamination to expand dramatically, making clean-up efforts more extensive and more expensive. Quick containment can make the difference between a small mediation plan and preventing a small-scale environmental disaster by limiting the affected area and reducing long-term environmental liability.

Excavation

Once containment efforts are successful, excavation of affected soils begins. This involves removal of the affected soil based on the severity of contamination, with intermediate tests taking place to ensure all of the soil is dealt with, and to the proper depth. Depending on the severity of the contamination, soil may be cleaned on-site or moved to an off-site location for cleaning and disposal.

Soil Cleaning

Depending on the severity of contamination, Lone Star Hazmat Response can clean soils on-site or move them to an off-site location for proper cleaning and disposal. For large excavation efforts, Lone Star Hazmat recommends the removal and relocation of soils for future backfilling efforts once complete remediation has been completed. This helps to quickly restore large areas back to their original state and reduce the risk of further soil contamination due to other environmental factors. For smaller contamination sites, Lone Star Hazmat Response can treat in place using specialized mobile equipment.

Safety and Handling

Removal and remediation of contaminated substances and soils involves detailed planning and execution, involving initiatives to ensure safe handling and transport. Failing to do so can cause further environmental contamination, expanding the project scope and putting your business at risk of government fines. Unsafe transport, improper excavation, or undetailed analysis of the contaminated area are all examples of risks associated with inexperienced remediation providers. Choosing Lone Star Hazmat for the mitigation and handling of contaminated soils helps to prevent escalation of the contamination and ensures all materials are handled safely and effectively.

Waste disposal

Lone Star Hazmat Response has the capability to remove and dispose of soils and other contaminated waste, as well as non-hazardous waste materials. Using specialized machinery and dedicated transportation vessels, Lone Star Hazmat ensures contaminated substances are transported, segregated, treated, and disposed of in accordance with local and state regulations.

We provide emergency and non-emergency services for transport and disposal of waste products, including contaminated soil, water, sludges, and debris.

Back Filling

Following the excavation phase and subsequent testing to ensure contamination has been sufficiently removed, Lone Star Hazmat Response transitions to backfilling. Depending on the severity of contamination, backfilling may be performed with cleaned materials previously excavated or with new materials extracted from a clean site. Backfilling will return the contamination site to its previous grading with healthy soil to promote plant growth.
