Job Responsibilities

The Lead Response Technician reports directly to the District Response Manager, with additional oversight from the Area Manager as well as the Operations Manager and is part of the Field Operations Team.

The role of the Lead Response Technician is to assist the District Response Manager in all functions related to field work relative to Emergency Response work, or other scheduled field work, and as instructed by our company Kingdom Purpose, “to care for it and maintain it.” Also, the following Core Values should be the guiding principles in all decisions, both long term and short term.

The Lead Response Technician is to support all positions of those above the Response Technician, while learning about all aspects of the work of Lone Star Hazmat Response, LLC. Specific task for the Response Technician is as follows:

  • Perform emergency response activities including, but not limited to chemical, fuel, and water spills, environmental and biological contamination, and facility or equipment decontamination.
  • Wear and properly use a variety of Levels A, B, C, or D personal protective equipment (PPE). This includes respirators, skin, face, hand, and foot protection in a multiple of combinations.
  • Works in various temperatures indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions: including extreme heat and cold while wearing various levels of PPE.
  • Works in atmospheres and locations with the potential for exposure to various chemical, physical agents, or traffic, some of which may be hazardous, toxic, or corrosive.
  • Assist in field sampling activities.
  • Can work extended hours (8+ Hrs), and willing to work on-call including weekends and holidays when scheduled.
  • Execute all aspects of ER and Non-ER field work related to Initial Emergency Response, Remediation, Waste Packaging and Disposal, and site clean-up.
  • Computer literate, to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, web- based apps, LSHR HazGen 2:15, and other computer programs such that all aspects of incident reporting could be performed as needed on a regular basis per company timelines and expectations.
  • Oversee the safety of all LSHR staff both during ER & Non-ER work, as well as others involved in a scene that LSHR is performing work on and as lead point persons, such that work is performed to the standards of LSHR and meets expectations with customers.

Qualifications for Lead Response Technician:

  • Able to take and comply with directions and perform multiple task as requested by supervisor(s).
  • High School Diploma or equivalent as allowed by management.
  • Current on Hazwoper certifications and medical surveillance.
  • 6-12 months industry related experience.
  • Valid Class “C” driver’s license that pass approval by current company insurance provider.
  • General knowledge of basic chemicals and fuel

Job Promotion or Pay Raise Considerations:

  • Driver License Upgrade to Class A CDL License (and any endorsements will be considered as well).
  • Equipment Operating Skills (such as skid steer, mini-excavator, backhoe or others)
  • Zero driving violations for extended period of time (extended to mean 1 year at minimum)
  • Zero disciplinary actions within company or with society law enforcement
  • Firefighting or Emergency Medical training or equivalents
